Floral
Floral | oil on canvas | 160x135cm
Flora is a garden that refuses to be contained by a frame, a 160-centimeter heartbeat of petal-pink and leaf-green. It is the architecture of a bloom, where blue sky leans against the heavy weight of the earth, and every red stroke is a secret whispered by the roots to the sun.
Description
At 160×135 cm, “Floral” is a monumental immersion into a world of organic growth and vibrant vitality. While many of Svetlana Vuksanović’s works focus on topographical maps or mechanical tensions, this oil on canvas feels like a sprawling, celebration of the botanical world, viewed through a kaleidoscopic lens.
The composition is loosely divided into four quadrants of energy, held together by a soft, rounded rectangular border that suggests a window or a garden plot. In the upper left, a fan of deep green leaves reaches upward like a rhythmic pulse of life. Below it, a solid field of mossy green provides a grounding presence. The right side of the canvas shifts into lighter, more ethereal tones—a cerulean blue sky-space and a striking, house-like structure filled with luminous pinks and corals.
The brilliance of Floral lies in its chromatic balance. The artist uses sharp, staccato red accents—slashes and dots—to provide a “heartbeat” to the greenery. These red marks act as focal points that guide the eye through the massive canvas, ensuring the viewer doesn’t get lost in the sheer scale of the color. The brushwork is gestural and confident, allowing the textures of the oil paint to mimic the wild, unkempt beauty of nature.
