Ido

Ido | oil on canvas | 73x100cm

Ido is a green silence suddenly shattered by an avalanche of primary light, where the earth watches the sky break into jagged fragments of red and blue. It is the anatomy of a threshold, held together by thin black threads that keep the world from spinning into beautiful, lawless chaos.

Description

In “Ido”, Svetlana moves away from the monochromatic intensity of works like Sneaking into a complex dialogue of color and negative space. The composition is defined by a bold, diagonal fracture: a vast, textured field of olive and lime green occupies the left, standing as a silent witness to a chromatic explosion on the right.

The power of this piece lies in its asymmetrical tension. The right side of the canvas is a visceral collision of sun-bright yellows, primary reds, and electric blues. Here, the oil paint is treated with architectural density, layered and then scraped back to reveal hidden depths. The recurring black horizontal lines—a signature element in this series—reappear at the base, acting as a grounding wire for the visual turbulence above. It feels less like a traditional landscape and more like a captured moment of psychological transition or a “shattering” of the status quo.
