Visible Landscape
Visible Landscape | oil on canvas | 120x140cm
Visible Landscape is an atlas of the unseen, where a cobalt tide surges against the quiet, textured shores of memory. It is a map drawn in oil and shadow, tracing the heartbeat of a land that only exists in the stillness between the horizon and the mind.
Description
“Visible Landscape” (Vidljivi predeo) is an immersive experience that shifts the Svetlanas’s language into a grander, more topographical scale. In this oil on canvas work, the frantic energy of the smaller pieces settles into a sweeping, contemplative map of color and form.
The composition is anchored by a massive, arcing surge of deep ultramarine blue that frames the right and upper edges, acting like a celestial border or a rising tide. Within this blue embrace lies a complex internal world of muted ochres, stony greys, and olive greens. The focal point—a sharp, almost bird-like fragment of white and pale green—floats in the upper center, providing a moment of crystalline clarity against the textured “earth” below.
The artist’s signature horizontal black lines reappear at the bottom, but here they feel like tectonic plates or ancient roadmaps, grounding the vastness of the sky-blue above. It is a masterful study of balance, where a single, strategic pulse of vibrant red near the center prevents the cool palette from becoming too distant, pulling the viewer back into the immediate, physical reality of the paint.
